FOR THE FROSTING:
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
- Set the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). Grease and put aside a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over a medium heat. After the chocolate has melted, take the saucepan off of the burner and blend in the cocoa powder until smooth. Mix well after adding the granulated sugar to the cocoa mixture.
- Using a spatula to distribute it evenly, pour the brownie batter into the baking pan that has been prepared.
- One egg at a time, beat in until well combined. Add the vanilla essence and stir. Mixing until just mixed, gradually add the flour and salt to the mixture. Take cautious not to blend too much.
- Bake the brownies in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- While the brownies are baking, prepare the frosting. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the cocoa powder until smooth.
- Stir in the milk until well combined, then gradually add the powdered sugar, stirring until smooth and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Once the brownies are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
- Pour the frosting over the warm brownies, spreading it out evenly with a spatula. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing and serving.
