Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- Season the Steak and Shrimp: In a bowl, combine the sliced steak and shrimp. Add olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using). Toss well to coat.
- Cook the Steak and Shrimp: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned steak and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly browned. Add the shrimp and cook for another 2-3 minutes until pink and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed. Sauté the onions and bell peppers until they’re soft and lightly browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the steak and shrimp to the skillet, add the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, and stir until melted. Set the filling aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Bread
- Prepare the Loaf: Cut the baguette or Italian loaf in half lengthwise, creating a top and bottom piece.
- Scoop Out the Bread: Remove some of the interior bread from each half, creating space for the filling. Be careful not to go too deep, as you want the loaf to hold its shape.
- Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Brush this mixture over the hollowed-out parts of the bread.
Step 3: Stuff the Bread and Bake
- Fill the Bread: Spoon the steak, shrimp, and cheese mixture into the hollowed-out bread halves, pressing it down gently to ensure an even layer of filling.
- Reassemble the Bread: Place the top half of the loaf back on and wrap the stuffed loaf in foil.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the wrapped loaf for 15-20 minutes until heated through and the cheese is melted.
- Unwrap and Broil: After baking, unwrap the foil and place the bread under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until the top is golden and crispy.
