Instructions for Making Oven Roasted Tomato Sauce
Step 1: Prepare the Tomatoes and Oven
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prep the Tomatoes: Wash the tomatoes, then cut them in half lengthwise. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cut side up, along with the garlic cloves and chopped onion.
Step 2: Season and Roast

- Blend Until Smooth: Pulse until you reach your desired consistency. For a smoother sauce, blend longer; for a chunkier sauce, use fewer pulses.
- Adjust Flavor: Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as needed. Add sugar, 1/2 teaspoon at a time, if the sauce is too acidic.
Step 4: Simmer (Optional)
- Simmer for Depth: For a thicker, more concentrated sauce, pour the blended mixture into a saucepan and simmer over low heat for an additional 10–15 minutes.
