Instructions for Making Chicken Lo Mein

Step 1: Prepare the Noodles

  1. Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. If you’d like, toss the noodles with a small amount of sesame oil to prevent sticking and add extra flavor.

Step 2: Make the Lo Mein Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, and chicken broth. Set the sauce aside.

Step 3: Cook the Chicken

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced chicken and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and no longer pink. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.

Step 4: Sauté the Vegetables

  1. In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed, then add the bell pepper, snow peas, carrots, mushrooms, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Sauté the vegetables for 3-5 minutes, until they are crisp-tender.

Step 5: Combine and Toss

  1. Add the cooked chicken and noodles back to the skillet with the vegetables.
  2. Pour the prepared sauce over everything and toss to coat evenly.
  3. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and everything to heat through.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

  1. Top the Chicken Lo Mein with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
  2. Serve hot and enjoy this flavorful, homemade dish.
