Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan. Line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and optional nutmeg. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the yogurt, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
- Fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
Step 2: Bake the Cake
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
